Information for users interested in joining BalticGrid

Speed up your calculations with the BalticGrid

For: researchers and application developers

This is the place if you are working on big or complex scientific problems and are looking for more computer resources to run your compute- and data-intensive applications. This is the place to learn how to get more results faster.

The BalticGrid project will help application developers in adapting their applications to work in a grid environment. If you would like to port your application on a distributed computing environment like the BalticGrid infrastructure, please have a look here to get more info on how it can be done and contact a grid applications expert.

Choose one of the Special Interest Groups to join

The task of special interest groups (SIG) aims to improve communication among many separate research groups, having similar or related R&D interests. The development and implementation of SIGs is a relatively new idea in grid computing infrastructure. Based on semantics representation methods and tools it leads to an enhancement of services and applications with knowledge and semantics. Research areas under consideration for SIG development and implementation are:

  • Baltic Sea Eco-System Modeling
  • Text Annotation Service
  • Text-to-Speech Service
  • Stellar Spectra Computation
  • Atomic and Nuclear Computations
  • Computational Modelling of heterogeneous Processes
  • Other? (what other SIGs would be interested for you?)
More info...

If you are interested in joining or creating a new SIG please contact

Algimantas Juozapavicius  (algimantas.juozapavicius AT maf.vu.lt )

Merge your cluster with BG

For: computer centers managers, site administrators

The BG infrastructure will be open to the entire European Research Area directly or via other Grid infrastructure efforts such as EGEE. BG will extend the EGEE Northern Region to the Baltic States and within EGEE the overall operational and support responsibility will fall under the EGEE Northern Europe Regional Operating Centre (NE ROC). A homogenization of present regional efforts will be performed in integrating those into BG and the larger European Grid infrastructure.

The list of current available BalticGrid resources is here.
